In Kofax’s Software Development team, both managers and staff members work together to create and enhance software products that we offer to customers. As a Software Development Intern, you’ll need to be able to make your own decisions about technical tasks you’re assigned. This means you’ll have the freedom to solve problems and work on projects independently.
Software Development Interns should be capable of independently performing most, if not all, of the following tasks:
- Coming up with new ideas and innovations for our products.
- Researching when needed to solve specific design problems.
- Creating documents that explain how our software should be built.
- Writing code for new, existing, or improved software products and applications.
- Testing our products with other teams like Quality Assurance to make sure they work well.
- Helping with different tasks to make sure our software is designed and built effectively.
- Assisting with activities like creating technical documents and tools to help users understand our software better.
- Making sure our software updates are done on time, within budget, and without sacrificing quality.
- Helping other teams or customers with technical questions when needed.

Required Skills:
- Understanding of Object Oriented Design and Development, which means knowing how to organize and build software in a certain way.
- Familiarity with modern design patterns and anti-patterns, which are ways of structuring code that are either effective or ineffective.
- Experience working with C++ 11 programming standards or higher-level languages like C#, which involves using specific rules and features for coding.
- Strong understanding of designing and developing software that can handle multiple tasks running at the same time, known as multi-threaded design.
- Motivated to work independently and take responsibility for meeting development goals.
Preferred Skills:
- Proficient in using Visual Studio for writing C++ programs.
- Skilled in applying SOLID programming principles, which are guidelines for writing clean and maintainable code.
- Experienced in creating network applications that communicate over the internet using protocols like TCP/IP, HTTP, REST, and SOAP.
- Familiarity with unit testing frameworks and mocking frameworks is advantageous, as it helps in ensuring the reliability and functionality of the software.
- Knowledge of Continuous Integration (CI) tools like Jenkins, which automate the process of testing and deploying software changes.
- Understanding of scripting languages such as PowerShell and Python, which are used for automating tasks and writing small programs to accomplish specific goals.
Required Experience :
Software Development Interns should have C++, C#, or Java experience and will work on an Agile Scrum team to develop and maintain various desktop and server business applications in the Kofax family of print, capture, and legal products.
