Responsibilities :
Collaborates with colleagues from various departments to discuss and understand new methods, practices, or technologies in handling data and how they might affect ongoing projects.
Assesses and suggests improvements on methods, practices, or technologies to meet the needs of the business. Also focuses on making sure processes are always getting better.
Engages with different teams, vendors, and partners within the business unit, as well as clients, to address issues related to new technology or systems that could improve current practices or maintain system performance as agreed upon in service level agreements.
Contributes ideas and insights to long-term planning and direction for technology within the business unit.
Acts as an expert advisor on project development, the health of ongoing projects, new methods, and the rollout of new processes.
Designs, codes, tests, and installs computer programs as required, ensuring they meet the needs of the business.
Conducts studies to determine if proposed projects are feasible and defines the requirements and designs for complex data processing projects.
Prepares reports at various stages of projects, such as outlining requirements, feasibility, and design. Also reviews and verifies these aspects to ensure they meet production needs and support requirements.
Handles tasks that are extensive in scope and technically challenging.
Balances between carrying out day-to-day operational tasks and contributing to the strategic direction of business activities, focusing on both execution and development.
Qualifications & Experience at Northern :
- A college or university degree and/or relevant work experience is necessary.
- Previous experience with project feasibility, defining requirements, and designing projects, as well as leadership experience in projects, is essential.
- Proficiency in different technical programming languages and conducting phase report studies is required.
- Understanding of programming languages, various business applications, cutting-edge technology, and current trends in the computer industry is crucial for evaluating and recommending new technologies.
- Knowledge of different application designs and programming techniques, typically gained through related experience, is needed to assess processes effectively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are necessary to provide guidance on systems-related issues.
